Books & Journals
Books and journals have long been central to human creativity, serving as vessels for memory, imagination, and reflection. From illuminated manuscripts to Renaissance sketchbooks, from common-place books filled with quotes and observations to personal diaries recording daily life, these objects are more than utilitarian—they are testaments to the ways we make sense of the world. To keep a journal is to enter into this lineage, preserving ideas, drawings, and experiences in a form that can be revisited, shared, or kept as a private archive.
My practice in book and journal making is rooted in this history while also guided by contemporary concerns of sustainability and material integrity. Each piece is crafted with care using handmade paper, recycled and upcycled leathers, natural fibers, and reclaimed materials. This approach ensures that the books themselves embody the values they are meant to inspire—mindfulness, respect for resources, and a celebration of craft traditions that connect us to the past while addressing the needs of the present.
These journals and sketchbooks are designed to be lived with. They are not merely blank pages, but invitations: to draw, to write, to collect, to question. Their tactile quality—the texture of the paper, the feel of hand-sewn binding, the weight of solid brass accents—reminds us that keeping a record is as much about physical engagement as it is about thought. Each book becomes a personal artifact, shaped by the hand and spirit of its owner.
In addition to the works presented here, I also create custom journals for collectors, writers, and artists who wish to have a book tailored to their vision. These commissions allow for collaboration in design, material choice, and function—whether it is a large grimoire for ceremonial use, a pocket journal for travel, or a sketchbook for daily practice. Each custom piece is made with the same dedication to craftsmanship and ethical sourcing, ensuring that the finished book is not only functional, but also a unique expression of the owner’s creative life.
