In Every Drop of Water There is a Universe
In Every Drop of Water There is a Universe is an ongoing series that explores water as both a physical substance and a metaphor for life’s infinite complexity. Each work begins with the premise that a single droplet holds within it the potential for creation, transformation, and interconnection. By focusing on water as the matrix of life, the series invites viewers to reflect on the fragile yet expansive systems that sustain existence.
The works are created on hand-made, round paper forms that echo the shape of droplets themselves. Using highly pigmented inks, watercolor, colored pencils, gel pens, and graphite, I build intricate patterns and forms that emerge from close observation of the natural and subatomic worlds. These drawings function as both meditations and visual narratives, unfolding microcosmic universes that suggest movement, energy, and possibility.
At its core, the series is also a form of storytelling—each drawing a chapter that reveals new relationships between matter, spirit, and environment. The works are contemplative portals, offering viewers a place to slow down, enter the image, and engage with the mysteries that water embodies.
Through this practice, I seek to foster environmental consciousness and a renewed awareness of water’s essential role in the survival of our planet. In an age when access to clean water is increasingly threatened, the series serves as both an aesthetic exploration and a quiet call to stewardship, reminding us that within every drop lies the potential for worlds unseen.
